I think we can all agree that shaving is a pain. Whether you’re diligent enough to do it every day or not, at some stage we all have to hack back our beards no matter the length. For some of us that means taking the razor out and shaving your face clean. For the rest of us, though, a beard trimmer often does the trick.
The beauty of the beard trimmer is that it can pretty much do anything outside of take your face down to the wood. If you have a big bushy beard it can shape and trim it down to a reasonable length; if you have something a little heavier than a five o’clock shadow it can take it back down to a day’s growth. An electric shaver can perform all sorts of surgeries and that is the reason we wanted to chat about it today.
There are a ton of different electric shavers on the market, so we chose to focus on three that we quite liked. As a fellow with a beard myself, I’ve tried a number of different models and we three we have chosen to look at all performed admirably.
Each one offers a little something different, so be sure to take a moment to think about what kind of facial hair you have and which one of these will serve you best. If you’re simply giving your beard a once-over every couple of mornings because you don’t have that much growth you probably don’t need to same shaver as the guy with a full muzzle.
If you’re a guy with a beard or one that is just too lazy to shave every day, you’re right where you need to be. Wait, not lazy, pragmatic. That’s better. With that said, here’s the best electric shavers for beards.
You may notice that all three of these offerings are from the Philips company. While that may leave us looking like shills, I can assure you this has been done because of the wide variety of trimmers they offer.
The first offering here is a fine option for the men out there who go the extra mile and like to have the option to shape their facial here (it’s well documented here that we’re not fans of goatees, so we’re going to assume you’re shaping your beard or ‘stache). This particular model comes with five different attachments that each have a particular use: a full trimmer, detail trimmer, nose trimmer, beard and mustache trimmer, and stubble comb. On top of that, the shaver is water resistant for easy cleaning, has 18 different length settings, and is full rechargeable for cord or cordless use.
If you’re looking for something to keep your beard tight and on the level, this is a great option. It doesn’t cost a fortune either, which goes a long way. While we’re largely on board with keeping your facial hair in order, make sure you don’t go overboard. Let your jaw define your jawline; it’s not arbitrarily placed. That and cutting your beard high doesn’t make your face look slimmer, quite the opposite in fact.
The next model from Philips we chose to look at was this one. Unlike the previous model, this one is dedicated more to shaving than to sculpting. This is the most luxurious model of the three we chose to look at too. What we thought was quite unique about this shaver is the integrated vacuum system which cleans up all the little hairs that get lost on your bathroom floor and counter.
Like the first model, this one boasts 18 length settings for you to choose from. This is a great model if you’re the type of guy who likes to have stubble on your face without committing to a full beard. The other use for this trimmer that may go unnoticed is that it’s a fine unit for those men who are on the go. If you need to mix in a quick trim and don’t have the time to get to a bathroom to shave the internal vacuum will allow you to shave in your office or any other place you traditionally deem “inappropriate.”
If you’re the type of guy who appreciates a nice shave without having to pull out the razor, this is the electric shaver for you. A great option for guys with heavier beards who need something to perform for them.
This is the last model from Philips we chose to take a look at. While it’s the simplest and cheapest of the three, it still performs the way you would expect. This electric shaver, unlike the previous two, only contains 10 length settings and does not boast the integrated vacuum system either.
Even though it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the other two shavers, we felt that this would be a great option for the guy who doesn’t have the heaviest of beards and doesn’t need an jet engine to knock his beard down. There’s a lot of guys out there who merely need a simple beard trimmer that can take their scruff away after a few days of sparse growth.
If you don’t need much there’s no need to break the bank on an electric shaver that offers you things you won’t ever need. This is from a label that provides quality products so you know that it’s going to perform that most basic of functions properly and reliably.
If you’re looking for something to take those stragglers on your neck, chin, and lip down every few days this is the best option for you. No need to spend your hard-earned dollars on something you don’t need. This machine is no fuss, no muss.
When it comes down to choosing a beard trimmer, it’s best to know what you need going in. Finding the shaver that is suited to your particular growth patterns and goals is the best way to go about it and will probably save you a few bucks in the long run. For the pragmatic man, an electric beard shaver makes sense on so many levels. It’s something that will save you money, time, and effort in the future. That’s surely something we can all get on board with, isn’t it?
